Another transition in my life...
Because I needed yet something else new in my life...a new phone has entered my life. Ack. While I am a tech gadget kind of guy, I have never embraced the whole "smart phone" thing where I have everything "I need" in one device - phone, calendar, media player, contacts, etc. I have always liked the ability to leave the "work" device at home and just take my phone with me (or vice versa) or just leaving it all behind entirely.
For the last three years, I have happily lived with my Motorola KRZR phone. It was small, easily fit in a pocket, and had great quality on my calls. Well, the KRZR is no more. For the last month, it has been rather fluky - restarting at random times, locking up, dropping calls, etc. Even my roadrunner ringtone was sounding like the coyote finally caught him. The kind folks at Verizon broke the news to me today - it was time to say goodbye. So, it was exchanged for a similar type of phone and we'll see how long this one lasts (hopefully three years or more again).
I will say that I am thankful that the KRZR has been put to a good purpose. While the phone itself isn't much good anymore, the sales person at Verizon told me that the phone will be used for parts and donated to a service that Verizon provides in giving phones to women's shelters that their residents can use. So, its a technological form of organ donation apparently. Maybe the screen from my KRZR will be used for a woman in need. I hope so.
