This is another of those “too long for email” messages, so if your message is cut off in your email, click through. Its not the words, its the photos…
So yesterday in my post of panoramas, sunrises, and the lighthouse, I received a direct message from someone saying that it just isn’t right to see these photos from me and not see Scout in there. And she was right! But flying with a 75+ lb dog just is not a good idea. So Scout is chilling at home with a wonderful dog-sitter after two of our kids returned back to college. The reality is, though, that some of the things that we have done here would not have been possible for us to do with Scout. While there are a LOT of dog friendly trails and there have been LOTS of doggos in the park, there are some trails that are simply not possible for dogs (unless they are mini-dogs who fit in a backpack or something).
Acadia is famous for “iron-rung” trails where there are iron foot- and handholds affixed into the rock and very narrow ledges that you walk on during parts of the climb. Three of the hikes I’ve/We’ve done the last few days here are those kinds of trails - the Precipice Trail, Beehive, and Jordan Cliffs. All were amazing hikes with exhilarating moments going across narrows, climbing the rungs, going across interesting bridges, looking down at nearly sheer drops next to our feet, and also taking in the incredible beauty of this park at this time of the year. But...as you’ll see in a bit, Scout has been with us in a way. First, the hikes...(and the photos don’t come even close to reflecting how sheer the drop-offs are)

But as I shared, Scout has been with us in a way, though. Last Christmas, my sister bought three of these knitted “Scouts” as presents for the kids when they headed to college and we are “borrowing” one of them for this trip. So on each of the hikes, mini-Scout has gone with us...Enjoy!
Tomorrow will be a lot of just pure scenery of this beautiful and amazing place.
Grace, Peace, Love, and Joy,
Ed
Love the photography. Glad Scout had good sitters. Maybe he enjoyed having a little staycation and some rest!
WOW. I'm using several of your pics for screensavers. I know you won't mind...
